About
TEDxNITC
We are a community of curious minds at NITC, dedicated to one simple belief: the right idea, shared at the right moment, can change everything.
"Riveted by the power of ideas to change attitudes, lives, and ultimately, the world."
— TED Mission
What is TED?
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to ideas worth spreading, usually in the form of short, powerful talks — 18 minutes or fewer. TED began in 1984 as a conference where Technology, Entertainment, and Design converged. Today it covers almost all topics — from science to business to global issues — in more than 100 languages. Meanwhile, independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.
What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
What is TEDxNITC?
TEDxNITC is an independently organized TED event held at National Institute of Technology Calicut (NITC), Kozhikode, Kerala. Since our inaugural edition in 2016, we have been committed to providing the NITC community and the wider Kozhikode region with a platform for ideas that challenge, inspire, and connect. Each year, we curate speakers from diverse fields — from technology and science to the arts and social impact — who bring perspectives that expand our understanding of ourselves and the world.
Our Mission
We believe that every great change starts with an idea — and that those ideas deserve to be heard broadly, not just within the walls of laboratories or boardrooms. Our mission is to surface the most compelling local and national voices: people who are doing transformative work but haven't yet found a large enough stage. TEDxNITC 2026 continues this tradition with eight carefully chosen speakers whose stories will linger long after the lights go down.
The TEDx License
TEDxNITC is organized under a license from TED. This means we operate independently, but within TED's established guidelines to maintain the quality and integrity of the TEDx brand. All content, speakers, and programming decisions are made by our volunteer organizing team at NITC.
